Outdoor School
April 14-18, 2008
Camp Yorktown Bay is the host site for the annual Outdoor School sponsored by the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Grade 5-8 students from Adventist schools converge on our camp for a week-long learning experience in the great out-of-doors. Classes are taught by teachers from each participating school and have included canoeing, photography, auto mechanics, wild flowers, and model rocketry. Field study classes each day provide additional opportunities for students to spend time in nature.
Morning and evening programs bring the students together for a vibrant worship filled with songs and stories that challenge each student to live for Christ. Students sleep in our rustic cabins where they can enjoy the sounds of nature at night, far from concrete, and the many distractions they face away from camp.
Students in eighth grade participate in a three-day survival outpost located on one of the islands in beautiful Lake Ouachita. Their time is spent away from all distractions, learning survival skills and how to work as a team.
Students who attend Outdoor School always leave with new friends and a lifetime of fond memories.
