FAQ

How do I request to have a friend in my cabin?
Cabins are assigned upon arrival. Friends coming to camp together may request to be cabin mates. Every effort is made to accommodate those requests, though it cannot be guaranteed. Be assured though, we do try our best to meet every request.

Are the cabins air-conditioned?
Yes, all of our cabins are outfitted with air-conditioning units that will make your stay cool and relaxing.

What if my camper is not the in age-group of the camp listed?
In order to make the Camp Yorktown Bay experience the best we can, we have organized our weeks of camp by age because of the differing physical and emotional levels of each age group. Exceptions are granted on occasion. Any exception requests may be made by email or letter to the camp office.

Can my camper stay more than one week at camp?
We do accept requests for campers to stay multiple weeks as long as the camps chosen are age-appropriate for your child. Free laundry service is provided for campers staying more than one week.

It will be printed daily and passed out with the other mail at "line call." To send your child an email, please type your child’s name and the week of camp they are attending in the “subject” area of the email. Please send email to: campers@campyorktownbay.com

Can I call my camper?
Due to the nature of our program, incoming calls are limited to emergencies only. This keeps our phones available for business and emergency use. If necessary, our staff will assist campers in making any emergency calls home.

What types of food will be offered at CYB during summer camp?
Your camper will enjoy three healthy meals each day during camp. Meals served are vegetarian, but do include eggs, cheese and milk. Common meals may include spaghetti, pizza, bean and cheese burritos, hot dogs, fresh vegetables and so forth. Nutritional balance is always considered. Special requests for allergies can be accommodated. Please note these needs on your health history form.

What if my child loses an item they brought to camp?
Lost and found items are kept in the cafeteria during the camp week and in the check-out area on Sunday. Please check to make sure you have picked up ALL of your camper's belongings when you pick him/her up. All unclaimed items are only kept for two weeks following each week of camp. CYB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST ITEMS.

What if my child needs to bring medication?
Your child’s medications may be brought to camp.  All medications will be checked in and left with the Camp Nurse during registration.  The Camp Nurse will make sure that your child receives the medication that they need every day while they are at CYB.

When does registration start?
Registration is held from 1:00-4:00pm the first day of camp. Please do not arrive before 1:00pm so we may see off our previous campers and have the opportunity to prepare for your arrival. All campers must be accompanied by an adult until the registration process is complete. Have all camper medications ready to check in with the nurse at registration.

When do I need to pick up my camper?
On the last day of camp, campers should be picked up at the gym between 8:00-10:00am. All campers must be signed out by the staff member on duty. Campers will only be allowed to leave with their authorized pick-up person with a valid photo i.d. If you need to add someone to your pick-up list please contact the office staff.

What if I change my mind?
All refunds will be processed at the end of the summer. Or, if you choose, can be held for next year's camp.

How do I send money for my camper to use at the Camp Store?
Campers love visiting our camp store to purchase shirts, hats, and other CYB souvenirs to help them remember their week at CYB. We recommend that store money be placed in the “camp bank” for safekeeping. $25-$50 is usually adequate. Any leftover money will be reimbursed per your request at check-out on Sunday morning in the camp store. For a quicker check-in process, you may include store money with your pre-registration application form.

Can I get copies of the pictures taken at camp of my camper?
Picture CDs of each week of camp are available for purchase on the registration form or during check-in. CDs contain hundreds of professional pictures capturing the memories that every camper makes each week. Picture CDs when available are $10 each.

Are there Camp Videos?
Week-in-Review DVDs of each camp are available for pre-purchase on Sunday at camper check-in or again in the camp store on the following Sunday during check-out.  DVDs will include loads of footage of all the events that take place during your campers stay at CYB.  DVDS are $10 each.

Can I bring my family pet with me to CYB?
With the exception of seeing-eye dogs, and local pets, animals are not allowed on campus.

What if I can’t afford to send my camper to camp?
We try to keep our fees low enough to make sure that every camper can afford to attend a week of camp at CYB.  However, we recognize that some families cannot afford to pay all of the camp fees.  Some Three-way Matching Scholarships are available for qualifying families.  For more information, please contact the camp office.

What if I'm concerned about leaving my child with a CYB staff member that I don't know?
We place a high standard on who we hire for our summer staff positions. The activities at camp are fun, the skits make you laugh, and the music inspires the heart, but it is the staff that encourage, invest in, and model Jesus for your child. We interview hundreds of college students to hire less than fifty. Our screening process is intense and long, but worth it! No staff member under the age of 18 will have direct contact with any camper during their stay at CYB. We are committed to making sure your child is cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
